Double Bacon and Cheese Bagel Sandwich

Cheese lovers, rejoice! Today, I am excited to share my decadent recipe for a Double Bacon and Cheese Bagel Sandwich. This mouthwatering creation combines crispy bacon, gooey cheese, and a perfectly toasted bagel – all of which come together to form a breakfast or brunch delight that will leave your taste buds dancing.

To begin, let’s gather our ingredients. For this sandwich, you’ll need:

  • 2 everything or plain bagels
  • 4 slices of your favorite cheese (cheddar, American, or Swiss work best)
  • 6 slices of crispy bacon
  • 1-2 tablespoons of butter
  • Your favorite condiments (like mayonnaise, mustard, or hot sauce)
  • Optional: a slice of tomato or some leafy greens for added freshness

Once you have everything ready, it’s time to start cooking! Here’s how I prepare my Double Bacon and Cheese Bagel Sandwich.

1. Cook the bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, add the bacon and cook until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. I like to cook extra bacon so I can snack on it while I prepare my sandwich. Once done, place the bacon on a paper towel to absorb excess fat.

2. Toast the bagels: While the bacon is cooking, slice your bagels in half and toast them to your desired level of crispiness. For an extra touch, I like to spread a bit of butter on the cut sides before toasting them in a pan.

3. Melt the cheese: After the bagels are toasted, I place the bottom halves of the bagels back in the skillet, allowing the open sides to face up. On top of each bagel bottom, I layer 2 slices of cheese and place 3 slices of bacon on each. Cover the skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt, which takes about 1-2 minutes.

4. Assemble the sandwich: Once the cheese is melted to your liking, remove the bagels from the skillet. If you want to add any condiments or veggies, this is the time to do so! I often slather some mayonnaise or sprinkle a dash of hot sauce for an extra kick. Place the cheese-bacon topped bagel on top of the condiments, then finish with the other bagel half.
